The offshore injury lawyers at Zehl & Associates recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Jones Act seaman who was seriously injured onboard a barge when a steel cheater bar he was using to strike a fouled cable connecting a particular barge to several others ricocheted and struck him in the head, ultimately causing him to lose consciousness and suffer a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Suit was filed against the seaman’s employer, Cheryl K, LLC, in Harris County District Court.
The lawsuit alleges that Cheryl K was negligent in failing to properly train and supervise its employees as well as provide proper equipment in order to get the job done safely.
The claim seeks damages for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost earning capacity, in addition to maintenance and cure.
