Cameron International Corporation, the company responsible for manufacturing the blowout preventer (BOP) used on BP’s Macondo oil well, urged a federal appeals court on Tuesday to delay the February 27 trial date issued by U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier. Cameron is seeking a trial by jury instead of the non-jury trial currently set to take place. The initial trial will determine who is liable, and to what degree, for their role in the blowout and subsequent explosion that killed 11 offshore workers, injured dozens more and led to one of the worst environmental disasters in U.S. history.
